Job Title

Senior Principal Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead architecture, design, and verification for advanced digital and mixed-signal ICs across concept, implementation, and production. Drive technical direction, mentor engineers, and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, reliable semiconductor products.

Focus areas include SoC integration, power efficiency, signal integrity, and design manufacturability for automotive, industrial, and cloud markets.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 10+ years of IC design experience in digital, analog, or mixed-signal domains; proven technical leadership and first-pass silicon success.

Responsibilities

Accountable for end-to-end IC design and technical leadership across product lifecycle.

  • Define architecture and system-level specifications in collaboration with product and systems teams.
  • Lead block-level design, RTL implementation, and integration into complex SoCs.
  • Run and lead design reviews; provide technical direction to analog, digital, mixed-signal, and verification teams.
  • Perform advanced analyses: timing closure, noise coupling, power optimization, corner simulations, EM/IR, aging, and reliability assessments.
  • Collaborate with process technology and foundry partners to optimize designs for target processes.
  • Guide post-silicon validation, debug, and characterization to ensure robust production ramps and first-pass success.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers; establish reusable IP, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Support customer technical engagements and contribute to long-term architecture and platform decisions.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and experience, followed by valued additions.

  • Must-have: 10+ years of IC design experience with demonstrated first-pass silicon success on complex SoCs or mixed-signal ICs.
  • Must-have: Expertise with industry-standard EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor) for design, simulation, and verification.
  • Must-have: Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics, process technologies, and design-for-manufacturability.
  • Must-have: Experience with timing closure, power optimization, signal integrity, and reliability analysis (EM/IR, aging).
  • Must-have: Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Valued / Nice-to-have: Experience with functional safety standards (ISO 26262), AEC-Q100, or other high-reliability frameworks.
  • Valued / Nice-to-have: Domain experience in power management ICs, motor control, image sensors, SiC/GaN power devices, or high-speed interfaces.
  • Valued / Nice-to-have: Familiarity with machine-learning-enabled design, advanced modeling, system-level simulation, automotive ADAS, or cloud power infrastructure.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
