Senior Principal Design Engineer
QorvoJob Title
Senior Principal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead analog and mixed-signal IC design for mobile-device power management and RF front-end solutions within the Advanced Cellular Group. Responsible for architecture, transistor-level design, simulation, layout oversight, and silicon characterization to deliver production semiconductor products.
Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and collaborate with system architects, digital designers, product teams, and customers.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role specifies approximately 15+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver complete analog/mixed-signal IC solutions and lead technical efforts.
- Define architecture and perform transistor-level design for amplifiers, comparators, voltage references/bias, oscillators, ADCs/DACs, power-management blocks, and mixed-signal control circuits.
- Perform circuit simulation and verification using analog toolflows.
- Provide layout oversight and guidance to layout teams.
- Plan and execute silicon characterization, debug failures, and validate performance across PVT.
- Collaborate with system architects, digital designers, product teams, and customers on specifications and trade-offs.
- Mentor and lead engineers; contribute to invention disclosures and technical publications.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and demonstrated experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Extensive transistor-level analog IC design experience with demonstrated designs in one or more areas: amplifiers, comparators, voltage references/bias circuits, oscillators, ADCs/DACs, or mixed-signal subsystems.
- Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, and analog verification tools.
- Strong understanding of analog fundamentals: device physics, noise analysis, stability and compensation techniques, matching and PVT variation analysis.
- Hands-on silicon characterization and debug experience.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with RF transceiver and front-end architectures and system-level trade-offs.
- End-to-end analog/RFIC development experience from definition to productization.
- Experience with data analysis and programming tools such as MATLAB, JMP, Spotfire, or ADS AEL.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required (posting specifies BSEE plus ~15+ years of industry experience). Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) preferred. No certifications or equivalent‑experience language explicitly stated.
