Job Title

Senior Principal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and productize highly-integrated microwave and millimeter-wave RFICs across CMOS, SiGe BiCMOS and GaAs technologies. Lead engineering and layout teams, oversee characterization, packaging trade-offs, board and module design, and customer technical interactions.

Experience Level

Senior β€” MSEE with 12+ years' experience or PhD with minimum 10 years' experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities:

  • Design highly-integrated microwave and mmWave RFICs in CMOS, SiGe BiCMOS and GaAs.
  • Define system-level specifications, floorplanning, and transistor-level design trade-offs.
  • Lead and mentor engineering and layout teams through design, verification and productization.
  • Perform EM analysis; select and simulate optimal packaging and assess packaging effects on circuits.
  • Develop and execute IC characterization, test, calibration and stabilization efforts.
  • Participate in customer technical meetings and prepare technical proposals and time estimates.
  • Design RF boards and modules to support ICs.
  • Review simulations and layouts; troubleshoot simulation errors and drive process and design improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Proficiency in RFIC and mmWave design techniques, including EM analysis.
  • Strong circuit design experience with power amplifiers, LNAs, filters, mixers, VCOs, PLLs, phase shifters, attenuators, multipliers, dividers, switches, detectors, and biasing techniques.
  • Deep understanding of noise, isolation, stability analyses and stabilization techniques.
  • Experience interpreting simulation results, finding and troubleshooting errors, and using industry-standard design tools.
  • Knowledge of foundry processes and ability to perform process trade studies for RFIC applications.
  • Experience with IC test, calibration methods and productization activities.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, mentor engineers and perform peer reviews.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with RF board and module design and customer-facing technical exchanges.
  • Broad experience across multiple process technologies and packaging-level EM analysis.
