NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Senior / Principal Board Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and architect complex, high-density printed circuit boards for semiconductor and hardware products. Collaborate with engineering teams to produce layouts from schematics and BOMs, establish PCB design standards, and support verification, validation, and production testing.
Experience Level
Senior-level; typically 5β10+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor, consumer electronics, or server hardware industries.
Responsibilities
Accountable for PCB architecture, detailed layout, design validation, and knowledge transfer to drafting teams.
- Design and develop complex PCB layouts based on schematics, parts lists, and functional requirements.
- Collaborate on high-density, high-speed board designs and integrate new or modified board architectures.
- Establish and maintain PCB design standards, configurations, and documentation.
- Perform layout reviews and quality checks of detailed drawings and deliverables.
- Train and mentor drafters and junior designers on drawing completion and specifications.
- Support hardware debugging, SI/PI analysis, and root-cause investigations during verification and validation.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (verification, test, manufacturing) to meet schedule and design-for-manufacturability constraints.
- Contribute to system integration and testing activities as required.
Requirements
Key technical and professional qualifications; separated by must-have and nice-to-have items.
- Must-have: Familiarity with the full hardware development lifecycle (design β verification β validation).
- Must-have: Expertise in one or more of: high-speed signal design (signal integrity), power design (power integrity / PMIC), PCB layout and SI/PI analysis, or ATE/test architecture.
- Must-have: Proficiency with PCB design and simulation tools such as Cadence, Allegro, ADS, HFSS (or equivalent).
- Must-have: Strong hardware debugging and issue-analysis skills; ability to drive to root cause.
- Must-have: Effective communication and teamwork skills; intermediate or above English proficiency.
- Nice-to-have: System integration and large-system testing experience.
- Nice-to-have: Experience in semiconductor, consumer electronics, or server hardware industries.
- Nice-to-have: Experience training or mentoring drafting teams.
