Job Title
Senior Principal Automotive Architect
Role Summary
Design and define high-performance automotive SoC/SiP architectures for vehicle autonomy and digital cockpit solutions. The role works across architecture, performance, firmware and verification teams to translate system requirements into architected solutions using Arm IP.
The position leads system-level decisions for performance, power, safety and security and mentors other engineers.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 7 years of professional experience in the automotive sector with proven system-architecture responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define SoC/SiP architectures and system topologies for automotive autonomy, ADAS and digital cockpit applications using Arm IP.
- Create architecture specifications that describe interfaces, programmer-visible behavior and system topology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and trace system requirements, safety and security concepts.
- Guide and align development across multiple design teams; review micro-architectural specifications and test plans.
- Steer development of functional, performance and power models and support software/firmware development.
- Define performance, latency, bandwidth and power targets and work with performance analysis to refine results.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team capability building.
- Monitor advances in machine learning, automotive systems and semiconductor design to inform architecture decisions.
- Work with engineering teams to improve power efficiency across workloads.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Minimum 7 years in the automotive sector translating requirements into system architectures.
- Deep knowledge of automotive system architecture requirements: functional safety, security, soft real-time, redundancy and virtualization.
- Deep understanding of system component inter-dependencies including memory and I/O systems, systems-level performance modeling and architecture impact on physical design.
- Strong understanding of general-purpose CPU microarchitecture (pipelines, caches, memory hierarchies, multi-processor systems).
- Familiarity with architecture and micro-architecture of processors for image processing, machine learning, graphics, video and display processing.
Nice-to-have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication; experience producing concise architecture specifications.
- Expertise in machine learning, real-time systems or OEM autonomous systems.
- Motivation to improve development processes and technical capabilities.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience acceptable.
