Senior Principal ASIC Implementation Engineer
Role Summary
Hybrid role based in Manassas, VA focused on ASIC physical implementation and delivery for aerospace and defense systems. Responsible for implementing production-quality silicon, supporting integration, and collaborating with cross-functional hardware and systems teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level; approximately 8+ years of industry experience in ASIC development is expected.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities cover design implementation, verification support, and production readiness.
- Develop advanced ASICs for commercial, civil, and national-security applications.
- Lead full hardware lifecycle tasks from concept through deployment.
- Perform physical implementation activities including synthesis, place-and-route, and timing closure.
- Execute static timing analysis, EMIR analysis, and layout verification (DRC/LVS).
- Define and maintain constraints, flows, and tool usage for implementation teams.
- Collaborate with verification, firmware, and systems engineers for integration and fielding.
Requirements
Minimum required skills and clearances.
- 8+ years of hands-on ASIC development and implementation experience.
- Current U.S. Secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one.
- Practical experience in physical design and static timing analysis.
- Experience with version control systems (git, CVS, ClearCase, Perforce).
- Scripting proficiency in TCL, Perl, or Python.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix development environments.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with EMIR analysis and DRC/LVS flows.
- Prior work on electronic warfare or defense-related ASIC projects.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required.
