Senior Principal Analog IC Design Engineer
QorvoJob Title
Senior Principal Analog IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Work in the Power Management division to define architecture, design, and validate high-performance analog power management integrated circuits (PMICs, DC-DC converters, battery management, motor control).
The role leads transistor-level design and simulation, partners with layout, test, and system teams, and coordinates with global design groups to deliver production-ready silicon.
Experience Level
Senior - Professional. Candidate typically has 15+ years of engineering experience and at least 8+ years in analog and mixed-signal IC design focused on power converter architectures.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead design and development of high-performance analog power management ICs targeting efficiency, power density, and reliability.
- Collaborate with system engineers to define product architecture, specifications, and trade-offs between performance, power, and cost.
- Select and implement circuit topologies that maximize robustness, yield, and manufacturability.
- Perform transistor-level design, simulation, and validation to meet functional and performance targets.
- Work closely with layout engineers to optimize floorplanning and parasitics for silicon performance.
- Coordinate with global design teams to align strategies and execution plans.
- Partner with test and characterization teams to develop validation methodologies and production test strategies; troubleshoot silicon issues.
- Drive technical reviews and produce design documentation explaining decisions, analysis, and trade-offs.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 15+ years of engineering experience in the semiconductor industry or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of analog and mixed-signal IC design experience, including DC-DC power converter architectures and control methods (voltage-mode and current-mode control).
- Experience with EDA flows and tools for EMIR, capacitive coupling analysis, parasitic extraction, and handling floating nodes.
- Track record of production releases for power management ICs.
- Technical leadership and effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with layout, test, and cross-functional teams to move designs to production.
Preferred (nice-to-have):
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Simplis, and ADS.
- Hands-on lab experience supporting high-frequency switching power supplies.
- Prior work specifically in semiconductor power management products.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering. The posting also accepts an equivalent amount of education and experience in lieu of the stated degrees. Fields referenced: Electrical Engineering and related technical disciplines.
