Job Title

Senior Principal Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver high-performance analog power management ICs (PMICs, DC-DC converters, battery management) from architecture through silicon release. Work within Qorvo's Power Management division and collaborate with global system, layout, test, and characterization teams to meet performance, efficiency, and manufacturability targets.

Preferred work arrangement is hybrid (onsite multiple days per week at Richardson, TX or San Jose, CA); remote candidates in WA are also considered.

Experience Level

Senior / Professional - requires extensive industry experience (posting specifies 15+ years engineering experience and 8+ years in analog/mixed-signal IC design).

Responsibilities

Accountable for end-to-end analog power IC design and validation.

  • Lead architecture, circuit selection, transistor-level design, simulation, and validation of power management ICs.
  • Define product specifications with system engineers and balance performance, power, and cost.
  • Choose and implement circuit topologies to ensure robustness, yield, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with layout teams to optimize floorplanning, parasitics, and silicon performance.
  • Coordinate with global design teams to align development strategy and execution.
  • Partner with test and characterization engineers to define validation methods and production test strategies.
  • Drive technical reviews and produce clear documentation of design decisions, analyses, and trade-offs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 15+ years of engineering experience in the semiconductor industry (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of analog and mixed-signal IC design experience with DC-DC power converter architectures and control methodologies (voltage-mode, current-mode).
  • Experience with EDA flows and tools for parasitic extraction, EMIR/capacitive-coupling analysis, and floating-node analysis.
  • Track record of bringing power management ICs to production release.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-have / Preferred:

  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Simplis, and ADS.
  • Hands-on lab experience with high-frequency switching power supplies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering preferred. The posting also accepts equivalent education or practical experience in lieu of the degree requirement.

Compensation note: The posting lists a base salary range of $193,100 - $251,100 for the California Bay Area; final compensation varies by location and candidate experience.
