Senior Principal Analog Architect – Data Converters
RenesasJob Title
Senior Principal Analog Architect – Data Converters
Role Summary
The Senior Principal Analog Architect will lead development of high-resolution data converter IP and analog front-end ecosystems for Renesas' Core Analog Division. You will define product specifications, drive NPI execution, and mentor global design, characterization, and test teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level - requires significant leadership experience in semiconductor analog/Mixed-Signal design (source lists ~15 years of semiconductor design leadership experience).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on architecting high-accuracy analog IP, guiding engineering teams, and collaborating on product roadmaps and NPI.
- Architect and design high-performance AFEs and signal chains, including programmable gain amplifiers and precision references.
- Develop high-accuracy IP targeting microvolt-level voltage accuracy.
- Design and validate Delta-Sigma, SAR, and Nyquist data converters to specified resolutions.
- Guide and mentor global design, characterization, and test engineering teams on high-voltage and high-accuracy techniques.
- Create product definitions and specifications that balance competitiveness and development cost.
- Collaborate with product management and marketing on roadmaps and long-term IP plans.
- Represent CAD R&D in cross-functional and company-level technical meetings.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (education details are summarized separately below).
- Proven track record designing high-accuracy analog products and AFE systems (successful designs meeting microvolt-level accuracy).
- Experience designing Delta-Sigma A/D converters (24-bit or higher) and SAR A/D converters (16-bit or higher).
- Experience designing Nyquist D/A converters (18-bit or higher) and high-speed A/D converters with data rates >100 MSPS.
- Demonstrated expertise in ESD, latch-up, and IC reliability considerations for analog mixed-signal ICs.
- Strong knowledge of state-of-the-art design methodologies, simulation and characterization tools.
- Experience with mixed-signal and BCD process technologies.
- Technical leadership: mentoring teams, driving NPI execution, and developing product/specification tradeoffs.
- Nice-to-have: experience with configurable mixed-signal platforms, DC-DC IP, or programmable analog ecosystems.
Education Requirements
MSEE or PhD in Electrical Engineering is required per the posting. The role also specifies ~15 years of semiconductor design leadership experience.
