Senior Post-Silicon Validation Engineer
K2 SpaceJob Title
Senior Post-Silicon Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Hands-on engineering role to own silicon bring-up, characterization, and system-level validation of complex mixed-signal SoCs and to enable transition of validated silicon into product integration. The role leads validation strategy, builds test capability and lab infrastructure, and executes first-silicon through product readiness activities.
This position supports ITAR-controlled work and requires U.S. person eligibility; the role expects in-office presence three days per week with periodic travel to the company's Torrance, CA site.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 5+ years of post-silicon validation, SoC bring-up, silicon characterization, or equivalent experience as indicated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Define and execute post-silicon validation activities and lead cross-functional bring-up to product readiness.
- Own post-silicon validation strategy, test planning, execution, coverage, and sign-off.
- Lead first-silicon bring-up across power, clocks, debug interfaces, processor/memory subsystems, peripherals, and high-speed interfaces.
- Define validation readiness criteria required for product integration and ensure silicon, firmware, test infrastructure, and system interfaces meet those criteria.
- Plan and execute system-level functional, performance, stress, and corner-case testing.
- Build the test and validation lab, including equipment selection, test setups, instrumentation integration, and automated characterization/regression environments.
- Partner with RF/analog, mixed-signal, FPGA, firmware, RTL/DV, hardware, and systems teams to characterize blocks (RF chains, PLLs, ADC/DAC, SerDes/JESD) and validate algorithms on silicon.
- Drive cross-domain debug across silicon, firmware, RTL, package, board, and system boundaries and manage issue lifecycle to resolution.
- Develop reusable automation for instrument control, data collection, analysis, regression, and reporting.
Requirements
Key qualifications and technical skills required to perform the role.
Must-have- 5+ years of relevant post-silicon validation, SoC bring-up, silicon characterization, or related experience.
- Hands-on experience bringing up complex mixed-signal SoCs/ASICs and transitioning silicon into product/system integration.
- Practical experience with lab test & measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum/signal analyzers, vector signal generators, network analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies, and RF/mixed-signal instrumentation).
- Working knowledge of SoC architecture and RF/analog/mixed-signal circuits; strong hardware/software debug skills across silicon, RTL, firmware, board, and system levels.
- Experience building silicon validation labs, test infrastructure, and automated measurement environments.
- Experience validating DSP, calibration, or signal-processing functionality in silicon.
- Strong Python/scripting skills for lab automation, instrumentation, and data analysis.
- Experience with embedded C/C++, JTAG, SPI, UART, and register-level debug.
- Ability to lead cross-functional bring-up while remaining deeply hands-on in the lab.
- Ability to work on-site at least three days per week and travel periodically to Torrance, CA.
- RF SoC and RF/analog characterization experience.
- ADC/DAC, PLL, RF transceiver, or high-speed SerDes/JESD validation experience.
- FPGA prototyping experience and familiarity with RISC-V or ARM SoC platforms.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (the posting explicitly permits equivalent experience in lieu of degree).
