Senior Performance Modeling Engineer
Role Summary
Join the networking performance team to define and evaluate architectural options for next-generation high-performance network switch ASICs used in AI and HPC systems. The role collaborates across architecture, microarchitecture, hardware and software teams and leads technical workgroups to optimize system-level performance.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 5+ years of hands-on experience in related engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include modeling, simulation, analysis, and cross-team technical leadership focused on system performance.
- Develop and maintain a C++ simulation model to evaluate architectural options and performance trade-offs.
- Analyze and model communication patterns for deep learning, generative AI, inference, and training workloads.
- Identify and diagnose performance bottlenecks and propose hardware/software mitigations.
- Collaborate with architecture, microarchitecture, hardware and software teams to define technical solutions.
- Lead technical workgroups and drive solutions from concept through evaluation and recommendation.
- Explore and prototype ideas to improve chip and system performance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of preferred skills follows.
- 5+ years of relevant hands-on engineering experience.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python for simulation and analysis.
- Experience with chip design projects and understanding of hardware microarchitecture implementation challenges.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; experience coordinating cross-team activities.
- High ownership and ability to drive initiatives to completion.
- Nice-to-have: experience with NVLink, Ethernet, or InfiniBand technologies.
- Nice-to-have: demonstrated ability to innovate and lead technologies that produced product impact.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is expected; a Master's degree (MSc) in EE/CS or related field is a plus.
