Senior Performance Bring Up Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineering role on the Arm Infrastructure team responsible for performance and power bring-up of Neoverse cores and interconnect products. The engineer will work with internal design teams and external partners to validate silicon, measure performance and power, and enable the hardware/software ecosystem.
Experience Level
Senior. Expected to operate independently on complex silicon bring-up, performance analysis, and cross-team coordination.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include hands-on silicon and platform bring-up, performance measurement, and cross-team collaboration:
- Lead performance and power bring-up on new silicon and reference platforms.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate performance, power, and stability.
- Profile and analyze system and microarchitectural performance; instrument and interpret counters and traces.
- Debug hardware, firmware, boot flow, and low-level software issues impacting performance or power.
- Collaborate with SoC designers, firmware and software teams, and external partners to resolve issues.
- Build automation and reproducible test environments for benchmarking and regression testing.
- Produce clear technical reports and recommendations based on measurement data.
Requirements
Must-have and useful skills for successful candidates.
-
Must-have: Several years of experience in silicon bring-up, performance validation, or hardware characterization.
-
Must-have: Experience with performance profiling tools, hardware counters, trace capture, and power measurement techniques.
-
Must-have: Strong debugging skills across hardware, firmware, and low-level software; comfortable with JTAG, UART, and boot diagnostics.
-
Must-have: Scripting and automation experience (e.g., Python, shell) to implement test harnesses and data analysis.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior work with Arm architecture (Neoverse) or interconnect IP, board bring-up, emulation, or FPGA bring-up.
