Collaborates with micro-architects, RTL teams, IP architects, and product teams to identify bottlenecks and propose validated architectural changes.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects significant technical experience and leadership in SOC/IP performance analysis; preferred experience includes developing SOC or IP performance models and benchmarks.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and own cycle-accurate and approximate SOC/IP performance models and analysis tools using C++ and Python.
  • Analyze workloads, identify performance bottlenecks, and quantify impacts with micro-architects and RTL teams.
  • Propose and justify architectural and microarchitectural changes based on quantitative modeling results.
  • Use and integrate AI tools and infrastructure to enhance performance modeling and analysis workflows.
  • Verify correlation between SOC performance models and RTL implementations.
  • Work with SOC, IP, and system teams to ensure designs meet performance, efficiency, and QoS goals.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and conditions:

  • Proficiency in C++ and Python for performance modeling and tooling.
  • Experience with SOC and IP performance modeling, benchmarking, and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, memory subsystems, interconnects, I/O, coherency, QoS, and related performance tradeoffs.
  • Ability to correlate models to RTL and work closely with RTL and microarchitecture teams.
  • Experience applying or integrating AI tools into development and analysis workflows.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Must be able to meet Microsoft security screening and export-control access requirements.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with post-silicon performance tuning and performance monitors.

Education Requirements

Education and equivalent-experience options stated: Doctorate (PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 1+ year technical engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 4+ years; OR Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 5+ years; OR equivalent practical experience.
