Senior PDK Engineer

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA's Advanced Technologies Group as a PDK Engineer responsible for planning and executing PDK deliveries in coordination with foundry partners and NVIDIA tapeout schedules. The role manages incoming PDK checks, version control, and enables new PDK features for CAD and design teams.

This is an engineering-support role that requires technical rigor with regular cross-team and foundry communication to resolve PDK-related issues and enable successful tapeouts.

Experience Level

Senior level. Typical experience: B.S. (or equivalent) with ~10 years' relevant experience, or M.S. with ~7 years' relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include coordinating PDK delivery, verification, and issue resolution:

  • Align PDK development schedules with foundry timelines and NVIDIA tapeouts.
  • Download incoming PDKs and perform incoming checks and validation.
  • Manage PDK versions and distributions between foundry and internal design/CAD teams.
  • Act as primary technical contact between NVIDIA and foundry PDK teams for issues and new requests.
  • Work with CAD tool vendors to identify and resolve tool bugs and enable new features.
  • Support CAD and design engineers during tapeout readiness and debug PDK-related failures.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities:

  • In-depth understanding of PDK structure and PDK development processes.
  • Experience with DRC/LVS flows, HSPICE simulations, RC extraction, and EM analysis.
  • Knowledge of basic fab process, mask generation, testing, and qualification procedures.
  • Background in MOSFET device behavior, CMOS layout practices, and VLSI design principles.
  • Proven ability to manage versions, coordinate across foundry and internal teams, and drive issue resolution.
  • Experience working with CAD tool vendors to debug tools and enable features.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; customer-support orientation for internal end-users.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with both analog and digital IP design.

Education Requirements

B.S. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience) with ~10 years' relevant experience, or M.S. in Electrical Engineering with ~7 years' relevant experience. Fields referenced: Electrical Engineering. Equivalent practical experience is explicitly accepted.
