Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, supplier engagement, and program execution for new substrate technologies.
- Interface between Qorvo design teams and global suppliers to define technology roadmaps and supplier capabilities.
- Develop, qualify, and support launch of new PCB materials, design rules, surface finishes, and suppliers following company processes and documentation standards.
- Design material and surface-finish evaluations using screening tests and DOE to improve RF performance, reliability (MSL), cost, or size.
- Plan, execute, and monitor complex process and product development projects using program management methods.
- Apply structured problem-solving (SPC, DOE, DMAIC, 8D) to resolve manufacturing and supplier issues.
- Provide on-site technical support at supplier facilities for development, qualification, and issue resolution (travel required).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools, and attributes for successful performance.
- Proven knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes (via drilling, copper pattern plating, panel plating, surface finishes, etc.).
- Familiarity with IPC laminate/PCB standards and developing design rules for manufacturability.
- Experience using SPC techniques, DOE, and structured problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, 8D).
- Practical understanding of Design for Manufacturability and requirements to ramp technologies in high-volume production.
- Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium, KiCAD, Cadence, or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and effective project management capability.
- Ability and willingness to travel to supplier sites for technical support and qualification.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with assembly/packaging processes and materials (SMT, die attach, wire bond/flip chip, molding, multi-layer laminates) and prior record supporting new products/processes for packaging solutions.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry or an Engineering discipline is required. The role expects 5+ years of experience in PCB manufacturing or an equivalent combination of advanced degree and practical experience in PCB/substrate manufacturing.
