Senior OSAT Manufacturing Development Engineer
Role Summary
Work in NVIDIA Operations to qualify and scale advanced semiconductor assembly with external OSAT suppliers. Lead manufacturing development, supplier management, and yield/reliability improvements for high-volume production.
Primary focus on flip-chip and advanced 2.5D/3D assembly, supplier qualification, and cross-functional problem solving to enable product ramp.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 5+ years relevant experience in semiconductor packaging and assembly development.
Responsibilities
Accountable for qualification, production ramp, and supplier performance at OSAT partners. Key duties include:
- Lead introduction of new products and technologies to high-volume manufacturing.
- Drive yield, cycle time, quality, and reliability improvements.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing execution and quality issues; implement systemic solutions.
- Develop data and visualization tools to support decision making.
- Manage supplier performance metrics and maintain qualification records.
- Lead change control, qualifications, notifications, and non-conforming material dispositions.
- Drive multi-sourcing material qualifications and volume implementation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 5+ years validated experience in flip-chip semiconductor packaging design, process, and materials development.
- Direct experience with advanced assembly technologies (2.5D/3D packaging) — essential.
- Thorough understanding of chip assembly equipment, materials, processes, and substrate/package design.
- Extensive project management and OSAT supplier management experience.
- Strong statistical analysis and data visualization skills; experience with SPC and data-driven decision making.
- Deep knowledge of quality control methods including statistical process control, gage R&R, and DOE techniques.
- Knowledge of packaging industry supply chain and vendor qualification processes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: photonics packaging experience.
Education Requirements
Master’s degree or higher in Engineering or Science with emphasis on Mechanical, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering fields, or equivalent practical experience.
