Senior Networking ASIC Functional Characterization Engineer
NVIDIAJob Title
Senior Networking ASIC Functional Characterization Engineer
Role Summary
Lead system-level functional characterization of networking ASICs with emphasis on stress testing, performance vs. power optimization, and driving power-management features to production.
Work within NVIDIA's networking unit in Yokneam, collaborating with design, architecture, validation, and cross-functional teams to ensure silicon meets performance, reliability, and power targets.
Experience Level
Senior level. The role expects substantial hands-on experience; the posting specifies 5+ years in networking ASIC functional validation or characterization.
Responsibilities
Execute and lead characterization activities from planning through production evaluation.
- Lead system-level functional characterization and stress testing of networking ASICs.
- Design and execute experiments (DOEs); write scripts, test functions, and envelopes for automation.
- Collect, analyze, and correlate performance and parametric data (including ATE/production results).
- Evaluate silicon and environmental effects (voltage, temperature) on key parameters.
- Debug hardware and software interactions and resolve cross-domain issues.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, and validation to define characterization plans and power-management policies.
- Drive features and products to production while ensuring quality and schedule targets are met.
Requirements
Key technical and leadership requirements. Must-have items are listed first; nice-to-have items follow.
- Must-have: 5+ years of experience in networking ASIC functional validation or characterization.
- Must-have: Strong understanding of IC networking power and performance trade-offs and solid HW debug skills and tools experience.
- Must-have: Proficiency in Python, C, or C++ and experience writing software that interacts with hardware.
- Must-have: Proven problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and capability to lead execution teams in fast-paced projects.
- Must-have: Experience integrating AI agents into workflows.
- Nice-to-have: Practical knowledge of IC timing considerations and the effects of voltage/temperature on ASIC functionality.
- Nice-to-have: Track record as a technical lead on similar projects and strong communication and leadership skills.
- Nice-to-have: Working proficiency in English.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
