Job Title

Senior Module Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design RF front-end module laminate substrates for cellular applications, taking concepts through prototype and production. Work on compact multilayer modules that integrate PAs, LNAs, filters, and switches.

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, test, and manufacturing teams to meet performance, size, cost, and schedule targets.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical expectation: 5+ years relevant RF/module design experience (see Education Requirements for formal degree vs experience options).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include end-to-end module substrate design, simulation, and release to production.

  • Design and develop RF front-end module substrates for cellular products.
  • Perform module-level integration of PAs, LNAs, filters, and switches in compact multilayer laminates.
  • Meet electrical performance targets while balancing size, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Define and enforce module design rules; submit and order laminates.
  • Simulate TX/RX performance and solve isolation/coupling issues using tools such as ADS and HFSS.
  • Work with PA, LNA, filter, switch, and test teams to optimize designs and validate module builds.
  • Analyze and present module performance data; coordinate samples and support production release.
  • Lead design reviews and provide regular status updates.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and personal attributes for success in this role.

  • Expertise in ADS and/or PCB CAD tools applied to laminate-based RF modules.
  • Experience refining simulations to improve predictability and enable first-pass success.
  • Familiarity with cellular frequency bands and protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for isolation, coupling, and layout challenges.
  • Clear written/verbal communication and presentation skills; able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented to ensure high-yield designs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience, or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or Ph.D. with a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
