Job Title
Senior Mixed Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer on the Hearables and Wearables consumer IC team responsible for analysis, design, simulation, characterization, and release-to-production of ultra-low power mixed-signal integrated circuits. The role focuses on audio converters, power management, clocking systems and system-level block integration for edge processing in wearable audio devices.
Experience Level
Senior level. Typical expectation: 5+ years of CMOS IC design experience (see Education Requirements for degree guidance).
Responsibilities
Lead and execute mixed-signal IC design from architecture through production; collaborate across disciplines to integrate and verify blocks at the chip level.
- Define architecture and design complex mixed-signal ICs and blocks.
- Drive technical decisions for mixed-signal block integration and system-level tradeoffs.
- Perform schematic design, verification, and laboratory characterization of mixed-signal circuits.
- Develop and optimize test and measurement strategies addressing performance, noise, timing, and power.
- Manage layout and post-layout simulation activities and address silicon bring-up issues.
- Work with digital design and verification teams on block and chip-level integration and verification.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and influence design approaches.
- Travel up to ~10% for collaboration and lab work.
Requirements
Must-have technical competencies and professional skills for immediate contribution.
- Proven mixed-signal CMOS IC design experience with strong problem-solving and hands-on lab skills (schematic, simulation, silicon characterization).
- Experience developing test strategies and performing noise, timing, and power analysis on mixed-signal blocks.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex IC issues in the laboratory and in simulation.
- Strong written and verbal communication and demonstrated cross-team collaboration.
- Experience working with digital teams on block and system integration and verification.
Nice-to-have / Preferred:
- Experience in audio ADC/DAC design and power-management ICs.
- Proficiency with Cadence schematic capture and SPICE simulation.
- Familiarity with MATLAB or similar modeling tools and digital signal processing concepts.
- Analog/digital behavioral modeling experience.
Education Requirements
M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of CMOS IC design experience, or a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. The posting indicates electrical engineering or closely related technical fields and allows equivalent practical experience for CMOS IC design roles.
