Job Title

Senior Memory System Architect

Role Summary

The Senior Memory System Architect will define and advance memory system architecture and micro-architecture across NVIDIA SoCs used in AI, autonomous vehicles, robotics, mobile, server, and gaming products. The role focuses on optimizing performance, power, area, and complexity through modeling, simulation, analysis, and design trade-offs.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 3+ years of experience in SoC or memory system architecture and performance engineering.

Responsibilities

The role combines architectural leadership, performance modeling, and investigative debugging to improve memory subsystem behavior and efficiency.

  • Drive development of memory-system architecture and micro-architecture, balancing performance, power, area, complexity, and schedule.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain high-level and detailed performance models and simulations.
  • Perform performance modeling and simulation to evaluate architectural features and trade-offs.
  • Analyze benchmarks and application workloads to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Debug performance and functional issues using models, RTL simulation, and silicon-level data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional, distributed product teams and communicate technical trade-offs clearly.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required; plus items that strengthen candidacy.

  • Must-have: 3+ years experience in SoC or memory system architecture and performance engineering.
  • Must-have: Deep practical knowledge of memory subsystems: caches and coherence protocols, DDR and memory controller architecture, on-chip interconnects, and address translation.
  • Must-have: Software development experience in C++ and scripting (Python and/or Perl).
  • Must-have: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a dynamic, product-oriented, distributed team.
  • Plus: Verilog or SystemVerilog / UVM experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Significant experience with performance modeling or performance verification.
  • Nice-to-have: Demonstrated experience debugging and resolving complex performance issues in silicon or RTL flows.

Education Requirements

M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE) or equivalent practical experience. Job description also references coursework/exposure in digital systems and VLSI design, computer architecture, and C/C++ programming as relevant background.
