Senior Member of Technical Staff, Field Application Engineering

Role Summary

Provide field application engineering support to GlobalFoundries customers to drive design wins, qualify new business, and coordinate technical sales activities. Act as the primary technical interface between customers and internal product, design, and development teams.

GlobalFoundries is a full-service semiconductor foundry; this role sits within the Global Sales Organization and focuses on customer technical enablement and solution delivery.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

The role requires end-to-end technical customer engagement, from presentations and demonstrations to resolving design issues and closing technical gaps that affect revenue.

• Develop customized technical presentations, proposals, and demonstrations to support customer evaluation and design-win efforts.
• Lead technology demonstrations and drive design-win acquisition strategy and execution.
• Serve as the single technical interface to assigned customers and coordinate all technical sales interactions.
• Assess and communicate strengths and limitations of GlobalFoundries technologies to customers and internal teams.
• Capture customer requirements and propose compelling GlobalFoundries design solutions and value propositions.
• Identify product or process gaps and work with internal teams to propose and close solutions.
• Collaborate with product marketing, design enablement, and technology development teams; provide real-time customer feedback.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues in designs, escalating to and coordinating subject-matter experts as needed.
• Provide market and competitive intelligence on technology trends and threats relevant to customer engagements.
• Partner with account and sales managers to support activities that lead to design-win closure.
• Perform all duties in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

Core qualifications and skills required or strongly preferred for successful performance in this role.

• Must-have: Minimum 8 years of experience in semiconductor IC design, system design, or semiconductor IC/system test.
• Must-have: Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30% to visit customers and fabs in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
• Must-have: English fluency (written and verbal); strong communication, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Must-have: Experience engaging customers technically and coordinating cross-functional internal teams to resolve design issues.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with advanced-node semiconductor technologies, devices, design rules, enablement flows, and tools.
• Nice-to-have: Experience supporting power and silicon photonics (SiPh) work.
• Nice-to-have: Strong sales aptitude and demonstrated ability to influence customers and internal stakeholders.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Electronics/Electrical Engineering. (Degrees and fields specified in the posting.)
