Senior Mask Layout Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design physical mask layouts for high-speed mixed-signal circuits in advanced sub-micron CMOS processes. Work within a cross-functional ASIC and mixed-signal team to perform floor planning, custom layout, and verification for VLSI products.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Minimum guidance: 5+ years of validated experience in mask and layout design.
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities for mask and layout tasks:
- Perform physical layout for mixed-signal functions such as PLLs, high-speed SerDes, ADCs, and ESD structures using Cadence custom-layout tools.
- Collaborate with ASIC and mixed-signal engineers to adapt and integrate custom blocks into SOC floorplans.
- Participate in floor planning, custom cell layout, and schematic vs layout verification.
- Verify layouts against design rules and timing/power constraints; support tapeout readiness.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of core qualifications.
- Minimum 5+ years of validated experience in mask and layout design for advanced CMOS processes.
- Deep understanding of analog circuit layout concepts in sub-micron CMOS technologies.
- Expert with Cadence custom circuit design tools, particularly Virtuoso.
- Experience using and debugging verification tools such as Dracula, Hercules, Calibre, and PrimeYield.
- Proficient in scripting (Perl, Python, SKILL) to automate flows and customize tools.
- Knowledge of DRC and LVS checking flows and ability to customize decks.
- Ability to work effectively in a team; good interpersonal communication skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent practical experience.
