Senior Mask Layout Design Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior Mask Layout Design Engineer produces physical layout for analog, digital and mixed-signal blocks and works with circuit designers and mask teams to integrate designs into VLSI products. The role emphasizes custom layout, floor planning, verification against schematics and foundry rules, and cross-functional coordination.

Senior - 7+ years of hands-on layout design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform physical layout for digital and mixed-signal functions (clock generators, op-amps, sensors, security circuits, power delivery) using Cadence tools.
- Floor planning, custom layout, fill, post-processing, and verification against design rules and schematics.
- Run and debug DRC/LVS issues and coordinate with verification tools and foundry contacts to resolve violations.
- Collaborate with ASIC and mixed-signal engineers to customize designs for integration into VLSI products.
- Coordinate across multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams to meet project schedules.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills.
- 7+ years hands-on mask/layout design experience (must).
- Deep understanding of analog circuit layout concepts in sub-micron CMOS technologies (must).
- Proven experience with Cadence custom circuit design tools, particularly Virtuoso (must).
- Experience running and debugging DRC and LVS with tools such as Dracula, Hercules, Calibre (must).
- Leadership experience mentoring junior designers and implementing standard team processes (must).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; experience working with distributed teams (must).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, Python, SKILL) (nice to have).
- Experience with layout automation (nice to have).
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience. Related technical degrees or equivalent experience in electrical/computer engineering or similar fields are acceptable.
