Senior Mask Layout Design Engineer
Role Summary
Perform custom mask-level layout for high-speed mixed-signal circuits and ESD structures in advanced sub-micron CMOS processes. Work as part of a cross-functional ASIC and mixed-signal team to integrate custom blocks into VLSI products, participate in floor planning, and ensure layouts meet schematic and manufacturing rules.
Experience Level
Senior-level; minimum 5+ years of proven mask and layout design experience in mixed-signal or analog ICs.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform custom physical layout for mixed-signal functions (PLLs, high-speed SerDes, ADCs) and ESD structures using Cadence tools.
- Collaborate with ASIC and mixed-signal engineers to adapt and integrate designs into VLSI products.
- Participate in floor planning, create custom layouts, and verify layouts against schematics and design rules.
- Run and debug verification and yield flows; support manufacturability and design-rule compliance reviews.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Deep understanding of analog circuit layout concepts in sub-micron CMOS technologies.
- Expertise with Cadence custom circuit design tools, particularly Virtuoso.
- Experience with verification tools such as Dracula, Hercules, Calibre, and PrimeYield.
- Proficient in scripting languages (Perl, Python, Skill) to automate flows and customize decks.
- Familiarity with DRC and LVS checking flows and ability to customize decks.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent practical experience.
