Role Summary

The Senior Mask Design Engineer will design and develop detailed physical layouts for silicon interposers used in NVIDIA products. The role works closely with the Package Technical Lead (PTL), I/O signal integrity and technology engineers, and multiple design teams to deliver manufacturable layouts that meet size, cost, and electrical performance targets.

This role requires hands-on layout work, verification, feasibility studies, and providing trade-off recommendations to meet project schedules.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Minimum 5+ years of experience in mask and layout design.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Collaborate cross-functionally with PTL, I/O signal integrity, and technology engineers to define and deliver package layout solutions on tight schedules.
• Perform physical layout for silicon interposers using Cadence tools (Virtuoso).
• Conduct design feasibility studies to evaluate trade-offs for size, cost, and system performance.
• Develop and refine layout floorplans; perform custom layout and verify against design rules and netlists.
• Propose and document layout design trade-offs for PTL review and implementation.
• Support schedule planning and help resolve manufacturing and electrical-design issues related to package layout.

Requirements

Key technical requirements and preferred skills.

• Minimum 5+ years proven experience in mask and layout design (mask/layout-specific roles).
• Deep understanding of layout concepts in submicron CMOS technologies.
• Expertise with Cadence layout tools, particularly Virtuoso.
• Experience running and debugging verification tools such as Calibre, ICV, Thunder.
• Proficient in scripting languages (Perl, Python, Skill) for automation and flow development.
• Knowledge of DRC and LVS checking flows and the ability to customize decks.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with Integrity auto-routing.
• Nice-to-have: experience with APD package layout tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience is required or accepted as an alternative.
