Senior Mask Design Engineer - Hardware
Role Summary
Responsible for custom mask and physical layout of mixed-signal and high-speed circuits for chiplet-interface projects. Work within a mixed-signal/layout engineering team to deliver integrated VLSI layouts using advanced CMOS processes.
Experience Level
Senior-level; minimum 5+ years industry experience in mask and layout design.
Responsibilities
Core duties include custom layout, verification, and integration tasks for high-speed and mixed-signal blocks.
- Perform physical/custom layout for mixed-signal functions, high-speed datapaths and clocking in sub-micron/FinFET CMOS using Cadence tools.
- Collaborate with mixed-signal design engineers to customize layouts for integration into VLSI products and chiplet interfaces.
- Participate in floorplanning and top-level layout decisions.
- Verify layouts against schematics and design rules; run and respond to DRC/LVS checks.
- Iterate quickly on designs based on designer feedback to meet schedule targets.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for the role.
- Minimum 5+ years industry experience in mask and layout design.
- Deep practical experience with FinFET technology.
- Expert-level use of Cadence custom circuit design tools, particularly Virtuoso.
- Experience with DRC/LVS checking flows and ability to customize verification decks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced projects and iterating based on feedback.
- Nice-to-have: scripting skills (Perl, Python, Skill).
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent practical experience.
