Senior Mask Design Engineer – Hardware

Role Summary

Design and develop detailed physical layouts of silicon interposers for NVIDIA products. Work cross-functionally with package technical leads, I/O signal integrity, and technology teams to meet schedule, cost, manufacturability, and electrical performance goals.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 5+ years of experience in mask and layout design.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include layout implementation, verification, and cross-team coordination.

• Collaborate with package technical lead, signal integrity, and technology engineers to deliver package solutions on tight schedules.
• Perform physical layout for silicon interposers using Cadence tools.
• Conduct design feasibility studies to evaluate size, cost, and system performance trade-offs.
• Develop floorplans, perform custom layout, and verify designs against DRC/LVS and netlists.
• Propose layout trade-offs to the PTL and support implementation decisions.
• Run and debug verification flows and coordinate with manufacturing and technology teams to resolve electrical and fabrication issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Minimum 5+ years proven experience in mask and layout design.
• Deep understanding of layout concepts in submicron CMOS technologies.
• Expertise with Cadence Virtuoso layout tools.
• Experience with verification tools such as Calibre, ICV, Thunder (running and debugging flows).
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, Python, Skill) for automation.
• Knowledge of DRC and LVS checking flows and ability to customize decks.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with Integrity auto-routing.
• Familiarity with APD package layout tool and general packaging technology.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

Base salary ranges: $136,000–$212,750 (Level 3) and $168,000–$258,750 (Level 4), USD (base). Benefits and equity eligibility apply.
