Job Title
Senior Manager, Post-Silicon Bring-Up
Role Summary
Lead post-silicon bring-up and productization for complex, high-performance silicon, driving execution from first power-on through debug, qualification, production readiness, and sustained ramp. Partner across architecture, design, verification, firmware, software, boards, systems, test, product engineering, and operations to resolve high-risk silicon issues and achieve production objectives.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires 12+ years of relevant technical experience and 5+ years of management experience, including leadership in post-silicon bring-up, validation, debug, or productization for complex SoCs, GPUs, ASICs, or systems.
Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end post-silicon execution and establish the operating model to move silicon from lab readiness to high-volume production.
- Lead the end-to-end bring-up plan from first-silicon power-on through production qualification and volume ramp.
- Coordinate technical and program execution across multi-functional teams to achieve bring-up, debug, validation, and productization milestones.
- Define priorities, staffing, execution reviews, issue triage, metrics, and closure plans for high-risk silicon issues.
- Drive rapid root-cause analysis and cross-team closure for issues involving power, clocks, reset, boot, interfaces, performance, and reliability.
- Plan and execute silicon characterization and reliability qualification (electrical, speed, power, thermal, environmental, operational conditions).
- Establish and improve bring-up methodology, test planning, lab readiness, and execution processes to increase speed, quality, and predictability.
- Communicate readiness, risks, dependencies, and recovery plans to senior leadership and drive decisions that balance schedule, quality, and production goals.
- Apply bring-up findings to influence design, verification, debug architecture, and productization roadmap.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications; separate list of preferred strengths follows.
- 12+ years of relevant technical experience and 5+ years of management experience leading post-silicon teams through first-silicon bring-up and transition to production.
- Proven experience leading teams through first-silicon bring-up, issue triage, debug closure, and production transition.
- Deep technical understanding of digital design, computer/system architecture, power, timing, clocking, reset, noise, and hardware-software interactions.
- Strong experience with post-silicon debug and validation flows: lab execution, test planning, data-driven issue management, and cross-functional execution.
- Familiarity with silicon characterization and reliability qualification: PVT characterization, HTOL, ELFR, package qualification, and automotive flows (AEC-Q100) when applicable.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior partners and drive decisions across organizational boundaries; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading bring-up for both SoC- and GPU-class silicon or highly integrated platform programs.
- Hands-on experience with first power-on, system bring-up, binning, reliability qualification, or production ramp.
- Experience building bring-up methodologies, debug infrastructure, or validation frameworks across product generations.
- Background in firmware, low-level software, or hardware-software co-debug; experience driving pre-silicon multi-functional execution.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
