Senior Manager, NPI Program Management (Semiconductor)

Role Summary

Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) execution for silicon products within Microsoft's Cloud Supply Chain organization, focusing on manufacturing readiness, supply strategy, and program delivery.

Work across engineering, sourcing, operations, and suppliers to ensure readiness for product launches and manufacturing scale-up for cloud infrastructure hardware.

Experience Level

Senior. Role requires several years of program or project management experience in technical, engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain environments (see Education Requirements for formal experience/degree combinations).

Responsibilities

Accountable for end-to-end NPI and supply readiness for silicon programs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead execution of NPI milestones and manage program health, timelines, risks, and dependencies.
  • Develop and execute silicon supply chain strategies, capacity planning, and supply readiness for product launches and ramp.
  • Perform scenario planning and risk analysis to evaluate tradeoffs and inform decisions.
  • Drive capital, material, and equipment planning to support manufacturing ramp and long-term growth.
  • Partner with suppliers for onboarding, integration, manufacturing readiness, and high-volume production.
  • Manage cross-functional workstreams across engineering, sourcing, operations, and manufacturing.
  • Create reporting, metrics, and analytical insights to identify risks and process improvements.
  • Resolve critical design, operational, and supply chain decisions that impact delivery and readiness.
  • Assess upstream and downstream dependencies across the silicon lifecycle to maintain schedules.

Requirements

  • Must-have: Program/project management experience in technical, engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain environments; proven ability to manage complex programs and stakeholders.
  • Must-have: Experience leading NPI programs for silicon development and manufacturing readiness, including supplier engagement and milestone execution.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes and supplier ecosystems (wafer fabrication, OSAT, substrate suppliers, test operations).
  • Must-have: Strong analytical skills for scenario planning, risk analysis, and capacity/capital planning.
  • Must-have: Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive alignment across engineering, sourcing, operations, and suppliers.
  • Must-have: Ability to meet Microsoft and customer/government security screening requirements (including Microsoft Cloud background check).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience managing supplier contracts and commercial engagements related to silicon manufacturing.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior work in fast-paced, high-growth environments and handling ambiguity across complex technical programs.

Education Requirements

Required: Master's degree in Business, Project Management, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field plus 3+ years of project management/operations/engineering experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Supply Chain, Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field plus 4+ years of project management/operations/engineering experience; OR equivalent practical experience. Preferred: degree in Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Engineering, or related technical field.
