Role Summary

Lead the San Jose firmware team for the FlashTec product line to deliver firmware solutions for storage products. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and cross-functional coordination to meet product milestones and ensure high-quality releases.

Experience Level

Senior — requires substantial experience. The role specifies 12+ years of relevant experience with at least 7 years managing firmware or software engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Accountable for firmware strategy, execution, team development, and cross-team integration across the product lifecycle.

• Lead and manage the firmware engineering team for the FlashTec product line.
• Direct end-to-end firmware development: architecture, design, implementation, integration, validation, and release.
• Set project priorities, schedules, and resource plans to meet milestones.
• Collaborate with hardware, ASIC, validation, systems, product management, and customer engineering teams.
• Drive adoption and improvement of agile firmware development practices.
• Mentor engineering managers and individual contributors; support career growth and technical excellence.
• Monitor project execution, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Support debugging and resolution of complex firmware and system-level issues.
• Contribute to long-term technology planning and firmware roadmaps.
• Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role successfully.

• 12+ years of relevant industry experience; 7+ years managing firmware or software engineering teams.
• Strong technical background in embedded firmware or low-level software development.
• Hands-on knowledge of PCIe and NVMe technologies.
• Experience developing or managing SSD firmware projects.
• Experience with agile firmware or software development methodologies.
• Proven record of delivering complex products in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving and project-management capabilities.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with enterprise storage products or data-center technologies.
• Familiarity with performance optimization, reliability features, and firmware validation processes.
• Experience scaling and leading geographically distributed teams.
• Knowledge of storage protocols, NAND technologies, and embedded systems architecture.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
