Senior Manager / Deputy Director, Silicon Photonics Engineering
Role Summary
Lead the 300mm semiconductor integration team responsible for silicon photonics process integration from ramp to production. Accountable for module ownership, prioritizing projects, sustaining and improving manufacturing technologies, and coordinating with device, process, and packaging teams to deliver quality, cost, and on-time production.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 10+ years of relevant industry experience, including management responsibility in semiconductor process or photonics integration.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities include end-to-end ownership of silicon photonics integration, production ramp, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Own baseline silicon photonics integration from development handoff through ramp and mass production.
- Manage a technology module: prioritize projects, delegate tasks, define improvement experiments, and oversee hardware disposition.
- Collaborate with device, process module, and packaging teams to implement production I/O solutions.
- Sustain and improve manufacturing technologies to ensure product quality, reduce defects, and improve process stability (Cp/Cpk).
- Detect and resolve line issues through data analysis; contain and limit yield and delivery impact.
- Drive cost reductions via expense elimination, yield improvements, and increased processing efficiency.
- Ensure product route synchronization with baseline technology.
- Contribute to intellectual property through invention disclosures and to technical publications or conferences.
- Perform all activities in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Proven management experience leading engineering teams in semiconductor integration or manufacturing.
- Technical understanding of silicon photonics and 300mm semiconductor processing.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize projects and lead cross-functional teams.
- Data analysis skills for issue detection and resolution.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in English.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in Si photonics device physics, semiconductor processing, and device characterization.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and structured problem solving.
- Experience with presentations, technical writing, and publications.
Education Requirements
Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics, or a related engineering/physical science discipline (as stated in the posting).
