Job Title

Senior Manager, ASIC NPI (Amazon Leo)

Role Summary

Lead Silicon New Product Introduction (NPI) for Amazon Leo, driving the transition of complex ASIC products from design through high-volume manufacturing. Work cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and Quality to meet product lifecycle milestones and ensure successful production ramps.

Amazon Leo is a satellite broadband initiative to expand global broadband access via a large low-Earth-orbit constellation.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Requires management experience (10+ years) and extensive semiconductor experience (15+ years in semiconductor operations, NPI, or product engineering).

Responsibilities

Accountable for end-to-end silicon NPI execution, manufacturing readiness, and cross-functional delivery of ASIC products into production.

  • Develop and own the silicon NPI strategy, aligning milestones across EVT, DVT, and PVT.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) requirements and implement yield improvement programs.
  • Optimize wafer fabrication, assembly, advanced packaging, and test processes to maximize yield and control cost.
  • Manage vendor and contract manufacturer strategies, material procurement, and capacity planning for engineering builds and ramps.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical and supply constraints during NPI.
  • Ensure product quality and reliability prior to product release in coordination with Quality and Reliability teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical and managerial qualifications and constraints for the role.

  • 10+ years of management experience leading large, diverse engineering and operations teams.
  • 15+ years of experience in semiconductor operations, NPI, or product engineering with proven success in high-volume silicon manufacturing.
  • Deep technical knowledge of silicon wafer fabrication, 3D/advanced packaging, and complex ASIC development and test.
  • Experience with DFM/DFT practices, manufacturing yield optimization, and cost reduction programs.
  • Proven vendor and contract manufacturer management experience, including supply-chain coordination for engineering builds and production ramps.
  • Strong program execution skills: cross-functional leadership to resolve technical and supply issues during NPI.
  • Export control requirement: must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.

Education Requirements

Basic requirement: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Material Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field. (Degrees listed in source; equivalent experience not explicitly stated.)
