SynopsysJob Title
Senior Low Power Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Work with regional semiconductor customers to deploy, validate, and troubleshoot end-to-end low-power verification and signoff flows. The role sits on the Applications Engineering team and coordinates with R&D, product validation, and account teams to ensure designs meet power, performance, and area (PPA) targets.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 5+ years of industry experience in low-power design or applications engineering.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on customer engagements, tool deployment, debugging, and methodology development.
- Partner with customers on low-power verification tasks: power estimation, reduction, audit, correlation, and signoff.
- Deploy and support Synopsys low-power tools (PrimePower-RTL, SpyGlass-Power, VC LP, PTPX, RTL Architect) across projects.
- Debug power reports, resolve UPF issues, and optimize flows to meet PPA targets.
- Lead technical engagements to establish end-to-end flows including power exploration, memory power analysis, glitch analysis, and emulation-based profiling.
- Collaborate with R&D and product validation to translate customer issues into product and methodology improvements.
- Develop automation (Tcl, Perl, Unix Shell) for power analysis, correlation, and reporting.
- Coordinate with technical account managers and global AE teams to drive solution adoption and customer success.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Nice-to-have items noted where appropriate.
- Deep hands-on experience with end-to-end low-power flows and signoff: estimation, reduction, audit, and correlation.
- Proven working knowledge of Synopsys low-power products: PrimePower-RTL (logical/physical), SpyGlass-Power, VC LP, PTPX, RTL Architect.
- Expertise in UPF-based low-power verification, power domain analysis, retention strategies, isolation cells, and power state management.
- Solid understanding of PPA challenges, memory power, glitch power, and emulation-based cycle-accurate power profiling.
- Advanced scripting skills in Tcl, Perl, and Unix Shell for automation and custom flow development.
- Strong RTL knowledge: Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog and ASIC flows from RTL through netlist-level signoff.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Microelectronics. The role expects approximately 5+ years of industry experience in low-power design or applications engineering.
