Job Title

Senior Linux Systems Engineer - EDA Infrastructure

Role Summary

Join the Infrastructure Engineering team to design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade, RPM-based Linux environments that support high-performance EDA compute farms. Deliver automation, tooling, and operational improvements to ensure a highly available, scalable infrastructure for EDA workloads.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 8+ years of systems engineering experience as indicated in the posting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include operating and improving Linux infrastructure, automation, and tooling for high-throughput EDA environments.

  • Maintain, tune, secure, and operate mission-critical Linux systems across production and non-production environments.
  • Design and lead infrastructure-as-code workflows and continuous deployment using tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Develop and maintain automation and operational tooling using Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Manage naming services (LDAP/SSSD) and networked storage (NFS, Autofs) to support high-performance workloads.
  • Drive availability, scalability, and telemetry integration for EDA compute farms.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of preferred extras follows.

  • 8+ years of deep systems engineering experience with RPM-based Linux distributions.
  • Proven experience automating multi-tier infrastructure and managing centralized deployments (Infrastructure as Code).
  • Strong understanding of virtualization and container internals (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, MicroVMs) and ability to design scalable container infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in scripting and tooling (Python, Bash, or Go) for automation and API integration.
  • Operational networking skills: OSI layers, TCP socket behavior, MTU optimization, packet capture analysis (tcpdump/wireshark), and familiarity with physical or software-defined networking.
  • Nice to have: CI/CD pipeline experience for infrastructure artifacts (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins), cloud compute experience (GCP, AWS), experience applying LLMs to infrastructure, and prior exposure to EDA toolchains or HPC schedulers (LSF, Slurm).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical work experience. The posting explicitly mentions "Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience." Relevant industry certifications were listed as differentiators (examples: RHCE, CKA).
