Senior Linux Software Engineer - Chip System Software

Role Summary

The Chip System Software team develops Linux platform software for NVIDIA AI-RAN and Software-Defined RAN solutions, integrating NVIDIA technologies with enterprise Linux distributions and commercial SoC platforms. This role owns building and maintaining customer-ready Linux distributions, packaging, kernel/BSP validation, release engineering, and platform enablement.

Work with upstream partners (Canonical, Red Hat), silicon vendors, and internal teams to deliver secure, reliable, production-ready releases for AI and networked products.

Experience Level

Senior — requires substantial experience; the posting requests 12+ years of experience developing Linux system or platform software.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include building, integrating, validating, and releasing Linux platform software for commercial SoC-based products.

  • Build and maintain customer-ready Linux distributions, installation images (ISO), and software packages.
  • Integrate NVIDIA software, drivers, and third-party components into Ubuntu and RHEL platforms.
  • Develop and maintain build automation, CI/CD pipelines, and software release processes.
  • Configure, integrate, and validate Linux kernels and BSPs for commercial SoC platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Linux platform, kernel, driver, and integration issues.
  • Collaborate with Canonical, Red Hat, silicon vendors, and internal engineering teams to enable new platform capabilities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for delivering production Linux platform software.

  • 12+ years of experience developing Linux system software or platform software (as stated in the posting).
  • Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, kernel architecture, and system internals.
  • Experience with Linux package management (Debian/Ubuntu and/or RPM), software integration, and release engineering.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and software build systems.
  • Experience debugging Linux kernel, boot, driver, or platform-related issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Canonical Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), or other enterprise Linux distributions.
  • Experience with Linux kernel configuration, BSP integration, or commercial SoC platforms.
  • Experience working with hardware and software co-development teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
