Job Title
Senior Linux Kernel Systems Software Engineer – CSP Engagements
Role Summary
Senior engineer on the CSP Engagements team responsible for system software for datacenter products (e.g., GB200). Work spans Linux kernel and driver development, firmware/OS/middleware co-design, hardware bring-up, and customer-facing engineering to enable cloud service provider deployments.
Focus areas include kernel modifications, device drivers, performance optimization, and root-cause analysis for large-scale AI/ML and HPC workloads.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requests 10+ years of system software development experience.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Design and implement Linux kernel changes, device drivers, and system optimizations for datacenter platforms (GB200 and next-gen).
- Lead hardware bring-up, BSP development, and hardware-software co-design for CSP deployments.
- Partner with cloud providers to co-develop, co-debug, and validate features and performance optimizations.
- Perform advanced system debugging, crash analysis, and performance tuning in large-scale environments.
- Collaborate with firmware, OS, middleware, and applications teams to deliver integrated solutions focused on AI/ML and HPC workloads.
- Work with AE/FAE/Solution Architect teams to produce technical documentation and deployment guidance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Deep expertise with Linux kernel internals, device drivers, and communication protocols (PCIe, USB, Ethernet).
- Strong knowledge of ARM (aarch64) and x86 architectures, computer architecture, and microprocessor concepts.
- Hands-on experience debugging kernel crash dumps, lock-ups, and multiprocessor issues using tools such as GDB, kdump, and eBPF tracing; familiarity with ARM and Intel assembly.
- Experience with NUMA architectures, memory topology, and performance optimization for multi-CPU datacenter systems.
- Understanding of PCIe virtualization and IOMMU.
- Proficient programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
- Experience with virtualization technologies, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures.
- Skilled in system-level debugging, performance analysis, and test design for large systems.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
