Experience Level
Senior. The team requires demonstrated embedded firmware experience; the posting specifies MS + 3 years or BS + 5 years (see Education Requirements for details).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include delivering production-quality ROM and firmware, verifying in pre-silicon environments, and supporting customers.
- Design and implement HAL and peripheral drivers (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, etc.) for bare-metal, ROM and RTOS targets.
- Produce well-documented, tested, and maintainable code for customer reference.
- Verify and debug ROM and firmware on pre-silicon platforms such as RTL and emulation; achieve high test coverage.
- Harden critical code sections to meet security and safety requirements.
- Investigate and resolve system-level issues in collaboration with SoC design, verification, validation and system teams globally.
- Contribute to and maintain public/open-source repositories: triage issues, review pull requests, and manage merges.
- Actively support and interact with key customers and internal stakeholders across functions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience relevant to the role; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Proven experience in embedded software development focused on device drivers and ROM/boot code.
- Experience verifying and debugging in pre-silicon environments (RTL, emulation) and writing tests to achieve high coverage.
- Experience working across functional teams to resolve system-level issues and meet security/safety standards.
- Strong software quality practices: documentation, testing, code review, and release management.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with ARM and RISC-V architectures, ARM assembly, C/C++, Rust or Python, GCC/GNU make and ARM toolchains (IAR, Keil, DS-5).
- Nice-to-have: experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Bitbucket), logic analyzers/oscilloscopes, and maintaining or contributing significantly to open-source projects.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with an embedded software focus is specified, or equivalent experience. The posting requires either MS + 3 years' relevant experience or BS + 5 years' relevant experience.
