Job Title

Senior Lead Engineer - GPU Verification

Role Summary

This role is part of Qualcomm's Graphics hardware team and is responsible for design verification (DV) of GPU features. The engineer will own verification for one or more GPU core features, develop robust SV/UVM testbenches, and drive verification to silicon sign-off.

The position requires close collaboration with design, systems, and EDA/CAD teams across locations and strong written and verbal communication.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 4–8 years of VLSI industry experience (posting lists a 4–8 year guideline).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Take DV ownership for one or more GPU core features and deliver verification plans and closure.
  • Design and implement SV/UVM testbenches and verification environments tailored to the DUT.
  • Create and execute directed, constrained-random, and corner-case tests to validate RTL.
  • Debug RTL and testbench issues using tools such as Verdi or equivalent waveform/debuggers.
  • Use formal verification tools where appropriate to supplement simulation-based closure.
  • Analyze failures, track issues to resolution, and work with designers to root-cause silicon bugs.
  • Coordinate with global design, systems, and EDA/CAD teams to integrate verification results and requirements.

Requirements

Key technical and professional requirements.

Must-have:

  • 4–8 years of VLSI or hardware verification experience.
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills with independent problem-solving ability.
  • Proficient in HDLs such as Verilog and SystemVerilog.
  • Experience developing SV/UVM based testbenches and verification environments.
  • Experience debugging RTL/TB issues with tools like Verdi or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with formal tools (e.g., Jasper, VC-Formal).
  • Proficient scripting skills in Perl and/or Python for test automation and infrastructure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

Preferred / Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of GPU/graphics architecture and graphics APIs (OpenGL, Vulkan).
  • Demonstrated exploration of multiple DV strategies or tools to achieve verification closure.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 2+ years of experience; OR PhD in those fields with 1+ year of experience. Equivalent practical experience in lieu of degree is implicitly accepted by the stated degree-or-experience alternatives.
