Job Title
Senior Layout Engineer
Role Summary
Senior Layout Engineer responsible for block-level analog layout, verification, and top-level integration of mixed-signal SoC designs. The role covers schematic capture, layout implementation, post-layout extraction and simulation, and cross-discipline verification.
Work closely with analog, digital, system, packaging and test teams to deliver manufacturable, reliable layouts that meet performance, ESD, and latch-up constraints.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform block-level analog layout implementation and optimization.
- Perform schematic capture and transistor-level simulation for analog blocks.
- Carry out layout verification, extraction, LVS/DRC checks and post-layout simulation.
- Integrate layout blocks at top-level and verify analog/digital interfaces.
- Address substrate coupling, latch-up, ESD and other reliability constraints in layout.
- Support mixed-signal (AMS) system-level simulation and SoC verification activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (analog, digital, system, packaging, test) and communicate results in writing and verbally.
- Document designs and participate in design reviews; travel occasionally as required.
Requirements
Must-have and nice-to-have skills:
-
Must-have: Solid design knowledge and practical experience in ADC architectures (SAR, Delta-Sigma, Counting, Pipelined).
-
Must-have: Strong understanding of transistor-level analog and digital circuit theory and analog IC implementation skills.
-
Must-have: Proficiency with layout and design tools such as Cadence or Mentor; experience with layout extraction.
-
Must-have: Good knowledge of layout concerns including substrate coupling, LatchUp and ESD rules; strong written and verbal communication skills; self-motivated and able to work across disciplines.
-
Must-have: Fluency in English.
-
Nice-to-have: Design experience in low-noise amplifiers, op-amps or RF circuits.
-
Nice-to-have: Knowledge of digital design flow, digital systems, and analog/digital interface integration.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with mixed-mode (AMS) system-level simulation on SoC.
Education Requirements
Master's degree (M.S. or M.Eng.) in Electrical Engineering or higher.
