Job Title
Senior Layout Designer
Role Summary
The Senior Layout Designer will create and deliver high-quality analog and mixed-signal IC layouts, owning floorplanning, placement and routing for mid-size blocks in core/pitch and periphery areas. The role works closely with design, CAD and verification teams to meet schedule and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting specifies 4+ years of layout experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Implement layouts that meet design constraints and quality targets.
- Use Cadence VXL for periphery and critical block layout tasks.
- Debug and resolve LVS, DRC and layout-related verification issues.
- Create layouts for critical analog blocks (temperature sensors, PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap, reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers).
- Apply analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, and parasitics control.
- Assess layout impact on circuit speed, capacitance, power and area; optimize trade-offs.
- Oversee floor-planning, placement and routing for assigned blocks; deliver signal and floorplan in core/pitch and periphery areas.
- Execute secondary layout tasks such as ECO, LCO and DFM, and support sign-off readiness.
- Coordinate with technology development, design, CAD and layout teams to meet delivery schedules.
- Leverage automation and AI tools to improve layout productivity and quality.
Requirements
Must-have experience and skills:
- 4+ years of IC layout experience focused on analog and mixed-signal blocks.
- Proficiency with Cadence VXL for periphery block layout.
- Strong LVS, DRC and layout debug/problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on experience creating layouts for analog primitives and mixed-signal blocks (examples listed above).
- Solid understanding of design rules and ability to deliver quality layouts.
- Experience managing layout flow: floorplanning, placement and routing for mid-size blocks.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with TD, design and CAD teams.
- Familiarity with layout automation and leveraging AI tools in workflow.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
