Job Title

Senior IP Development Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and maintain multi-language software and tools that support IP development and internal engineering teams within Intel Foundry. The role focuses on software architecture, cross-language integration, CI/CD, and improving software quality to enable reliable silicon delivery.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 5+ years of relevant industry experience with strong software development and EDA/IP domain knowledge.

Responsibilities

The role combines software development, technical support, and process improvement for internal engineering teams.

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy multi-language software using C/C++, Python, Perl, Tcl, and shell scripting.
  • Architect and maintain complex software products that integrate across language boundaries.
  • Provide technical support to large internal engineering teams (150+), including debugging and regression analysis.
  • Lead resolution of critical software issues and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines and modern software QA practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and introduce automation to the development lifecycle.
  • Integrate and evaluate AI-assisted developer tools and modern build systems.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: 5+ years of relevant industry experience (see Education Requirements for degree guidance).
  • Must-have: 3+ years working with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) views and tools.
  • Must-have: 1+ years experience with IP layout principles and netlist construction methodologies.
  • Must-have: 2+ years of C++ development experience and hands-on use of Boost libraries.
  • Must-have: Experience in Python and shell scripting for automation.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with SWIG, cross-platform build systems, GCC toolchain, software security practices, and debugging mixed-language systems.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of network programming (sockets, TCP/IP) and memory-management mitigation strategies.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field plus relevant experience (the posting allows equivalent combinations of industry experience, internships, or research). Preferred: a postgraduate degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
