Job Title
Senior Infrastructure and DevOps Engineer
Role Summary
Design and operate infrastructure for large-scale modeling, simulation, and data analysis workflows within the Silicon Architecture (SiA) 3PA group. Work cross-functionally with architects, modeling engineers, and software developers to ensure analysis toolchains run efficiently, reliably, and at scale on Linux-based environments.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role expects several years of infrastructure/DevOps and Linux experience (see Requirements). Preferred candidates have extensive experience (7+ years) in related engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building and operating the infrastructure and automation that support modeling and simulation workflows:
- Design, deploy, and maintain Linux-based infrastructure for architecture modeling, simulation, and projection workflows.
- Design and operate CI/CD pipelines for modeling frameworks, analysis tools, and supporting software.
- Develop and maintain automation for build systems, toolchains, packaging, and dependency management.
- Enable scalable, reproducible execution of compute-intensive workloads and manage distributed compute environments.
- Manage artifact storage, versioning, and distribution for software builds and modeling outputs.
- Monitor and improve pipeline performance, reliability, and observability.
- Debug infrastructure issues across build systems, storage, networking, and distributed compute stacks.
- Collaborate with architects and developers to improve developer productivity, tooling quality, and system scalability; drive end-to-end improvements to infrastructure components.
Requirements
Summary of must-have and preferred skills. Education degrees are listed separately under Education Requirements.
Must-have:
- 3+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, software engineering, or build/release engineering.
- 3+ years working in Linux development environments.
- 2+ years of experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
- 2+ years with build systems such as GNU Make, CMake, Bazel, or Ninja.
- Experience debugging infrastructure issues across build systems, storage, networking, and distributed compute.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to influence cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Scripting or software automation experience (Python, Bash, or similar).
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and job schedulers (e.g., Slurm).
- Experience supporting large-scale compute/HPC systems, distributed workloads, or managing storage/distributed filesystems (NFS or similar).
- Familiarity with performance tuning, resource optimization, data analysis/modeling workflows, or EDA/architecture modeling environments.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications specify educational alternatives: a Bachelor's degree (with 4+ years of experience), a Master's degree (with 3+ years of experience), or a PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or another STEM-related discipline. The posting indicates experience may be obtained through a combination of degree, research, or relevant job/internship experience.
