Senior ICV CAD Engineer

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA's Advanced Technology Group to support and enhance CAD infrastructure for custom IC design. The role combines hands-on support for designers, foundry techfile installation and debugging, and development of scripts and flows to improve designer productivity.

Responsibilities

Provide expert CAD support, maintain toolchains, and develop automation to enable IC designers working on advanced process technologies.

  • Install, configure, and support foundry techfiles and NVIDIA-specific customizations.
  • Debug design, techfile, and tool errors and coordinate fixes with designers, foundries, and EDA vendors.
  • Custom-edit foundry techfiles to implement NVIDIA design methodologies and DFM rules.
  • Support and maintain CAD tools used by IC designers (Cadence Virtuoso, IC-Manage, DRC/LVS tools, extraction, SPICE simulation).
  • Work with CAD tool vendors to report bugs, improve usability, and evaluate new features.
  • Develop infrastructure and scripts to support designs in new process technologies.
  • Write and maintain automation using Perl and Cadence SKILL.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional attributes.

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong expertise in ICV for supporting, enhancing, and debugging foundry DRC and LVS techfiles; able to implement NVIDIA-specific DFM and DRC rules and add NVIDIA devices to LVS decks.
  • Excellent programming skills; experience with Perl and Cadence SKILL.
  • Basic understanding of MOSFET device behavior, CMOS layout, and VLSI design.
  • Ability to work directly with designers and vendors; strong interpersonal and user-support skills.
  • Experience supporting EDA toolchains (DRC/LVS, extraction, simulation) and interacting with tool vendors.

Education Requirements

B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience). M.S. preferred.
