Job Title

Senior ICV CAD Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Advanced Technology Group to support foundry techfile installation, debug CAD/tool/techfile/design issues, and develop flows and scripts to improve productivity for custom IC designers. The role combines hands-on support, tool maintenance, and development of infrastructure for new process technologies.

This position requires close collaboration with designers, foundries, and EDA vendors to resolve issues and enhance design flows.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 5+ years of relevant work experience supporting IC design/CAD environments.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include supporting IC design CAD environments and improving tooling and techfile quality.

  • Install, configure, and maintain foundry techfiles and related CAD tool flows.
  • Diagnose and debug design, tool, and techfile errors; communicate issues to designers, foundries, and EDA vendors.
  • Custom-edit foundry techfiles to implement company design methodologies and DFM rules.
  • Support and maintain EDA tools used by IC designers (Cadence Virtuoso, IC-Manage, DRC/LVS tools, extraction, SPICE simulation, etc.).
  • Work with CAD tool vendors to identify bugs, improve usability, and evaluate new features.
  • Develop infrastructure and flows to support designs in new process technologies.
  • Write and maintain automation scripts (Perl, Cadence SKILL) to improve designer productivity.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of essentials and useful additions.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting IC CAD or foundry techfile environments.
  • Strong expertise in ICV for supporting, enhancing, and debugging DRC and LVS techfiles; able to implement DFM/DRC rules and add company-specific devices in LVS decks using ICV.
  • Excellent programming and scripting skills; practical experience with Perl and Cadence SKILL.
  • Working knowledge of MOSFET device behavior, CMOS layout, and VLSI design principles.
  • Experience supporting Cadence Virtuoso, DRC/LVS verification flows, extraction and SPICE simulation tools; familiarity with IC version/control systems (e.g., IC-Manage).
  • Strong interpersonal and user-support skills; ability to communicate technical issues clearly to designers, foundries, and EDA partners.
  • Ability to work on both development and production support tasks under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Nice-to-have: prior experience working directly with EDA vendors to resolve tool-level issues.

Education Requirements

B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience) is expected; M.S. preferred. Relevant fields include Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science. "Or equivalent experience" language is accepted.
