Job Title
Senior ICE Emulation Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead emulation and prototyping efforts for large SoC designs, focusing on RTL partitioning, IP integration, interface validation, and system bring-up. Work closely with RTL, DV, and software teams to deliver stable, high-performance emulation prototypes.
Experience Level
Senior β 7+ years of hands-on experience in prototyping, emulation, SoC design, and validation.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include preparing designs for emulation, integrating IP, and diagnosing system issues:
- Partition and synthesize large SoC RTL designs for emulation platforms.
- Integrate internal and third-party IPs and resolve timing and connectivity issues for emulation compatibility.
- Set up and validate high-speed and low-speed hardware interfaces.
- Configure host servers and boot environments to interact with the emulated design.
- Integrate, develop, and debug transactors, bridges, and protocol adapters.
- Debug and root-cause embedded hardware, firmware, and test failures observed in emulation.
- Collaborate with RTL, DV, and software teams to resolve system-level bugs.
- Optimize emulation performance and turnaround time.
Requirements
Core technical qualifications and skills required for the role.
Must-have:
- 7+ years of practical experience in prototyping, emulation, SoC design, or validation.
- Proven experience integrating and debugging high-speed and low-speed interfaces.
- Experience with embedded software bring-up and bootloader/kernel interactions.
- Proficiency with scripting languages for automation (Python, Perl, TCL).
- Experience in design verification and hardware/software co-simulation.
- Familiarity with Linux device drivers, bare-metal firmware, or boot loaders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and clear communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Hands-on experience synthesizing RTL for emulation or FPGA prototyping.
- Experience developing transactors, protocol adapters, or configuring emulation hosts.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
