Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include failure isolation, test modification, planning, reporting, and development of debug techniques.
- Use testers, hardware and optical fault isolation techniques (laser stimulation/OBIRCH/LADA, laser probing, photon/thermal emission microscopy) to detect defects, design marginalities, and process issues.
- Modify test programs to meet failure analysis requirements.
- Interpret ATPG diagnosis reports and OFI findings.
- Plan and guide nano-probing and physical failure analysis activities.
- Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and root-cause analyses.
- Develop and improve failure debug techniques.
- Collaborate with Q&R, foundry, physical design, Test, DFT, software and other supporting teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical and professional skills.
- Strong understanding of VLSI circuit design, device physics, and/or process engineering.
- Proven analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams; strong ownership and responsibility.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in failure analysis, silicon debug, ATE test development, or nanoprobing.
- Familiarity with ATE test programs and adapting test patterns for debug.
- Statistical/data analysis experience (Matlab, JMP, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with OFI techniques and electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, lock-in amplifiers, parametric analyzers, VNA, TDR).
Education Requirements
B.Sc. in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field with 5+ years relevant experience; or M.Sc. with 3+ years; or Ph.D. (degrees and fields listed in source). Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
