Senior IC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Verify and architect design verification for high-performance Ethernet/networking IP and related SoC products used in automotive, industrial, edge, and telecommunications markets. The role is part of AI and Chip Engineering (ACE), a central R&D organization delivering IP and SoC solutions across multiple business lines.
This position focuses on UVM/SystemVerilog verification, verification infrastructure, test development, and cross-team collaboration to deliver production-quality IP.
Experience Level
Senior - the posting requires experienced engineers; the job lists 5+ years of experience in IP & SoC products.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, building, executing, and debugging verification for networking IP and SoC integration.
- Design and implement UVM/SystemVerilog verification environments for Ethernet/networking IP and SoC features.
- Create directed and constrained-random tests and verification suites; monitor and improve functional and code coverage.
- Debug failures, identify root causes, and work with architects and designers to resolve defects.
- Architect and maintain verification infrastructure, tools, and flows (including EDA and CI integrations).
- Perform trade-off analyses on performance, complexity, and implementation choices.
- Produce clear technical documentation: functional specifications, verification plans, and reports.
- Drive continuous improvement in verification methodology and processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Strong expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM verification methodologies.
- Experience with IP and SoC verification, including architecting and executing full verification cycles.
- Proficiency with EDA tools and scripting for flows and automation (Python, TCL, Perl, Makefile, Shell).
- Experience with revision control systems such as Git.
- Familiarity with hardware vs. software implementation trade-offs and algorithm development.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills; ability to work on cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Formal methods and Functional Safety verification.
- Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP) and devices (routers, bridges, switches).
- Security or cryptography experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (per posting).
