Senior IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
As a Senior IC Design Engineer in the BG IC Solutions Logic development team, you will lead implementation of technical requirements for logic and switch product families, including top-level layout, verification and packaging considerations. You will own full-chip design decisions and coordinate cross-functional teams through study, design, validation and qualification phases.
Experience Level
Senior. Minimum 3 years of semiconductor industry and circuit design experience (as stated in the posting).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include delivering integrated circuits with appropriate packaging, leading cross-functional technical efforts, and ensuring products meet datasheet, ESD and quality requirements.
- Lead full-chip design, product specification setting, verification and top-level layout for logic and switch families.
- Design integrated circuits using CMOS and BCD processes (0.5µm–0.18µm) and develop products for multiple plastic packages with Cu-wire bonding.
- Implement ESD protection solutions and coordinate TLP characterization with ESD experts.
- Perform block-level and top-level simulations, statistical verification, and datasheet parameter verification.
- Create floor-planning, block layouts, top-level layouts and wiring diagrams.
- Manage design risks and trade-offs between complexity, area, cost and schedule to achieve First-Time-Right designs.
- Collaborate with product, test, manufacturing and quality engineering teams during design, validation and qualification phases.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Minimum 3 years of semiconductor industry experience in circuit design.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics and device characteristics.
- Experience with standard CMOS or BCD technologies and design in 0.5µm–0.18µm nodes.
- Practical knowledge of ESD mechanisms and protection circuit techniques.
- Experience using analog/mixed-signal EDA tools (Cadence or Synopsys) and simulation methodologies.
- Experience with top-level verification, floor-planning and layout practices.
- Good English communication skills; able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with TLP characterization and integrating ESD expertise into designs.
- Experience developing master designs and configurable derivatives to share pin functionality across products.
- Familiarity with plastic package manufacturing and assembly processes.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
