Senior HW Program Manager
Role Summary
Manage hardware program execution from initiation through delivery, owning schedules, resources, risks, deliverables and stakeholder alignment across functions. Work within the Engineering Services Group to ensure on-time delivery of program milestones for moderate to complex hardware programs.
Experience Level
Senior. Minimum 4+ years of program management or related work experience in the hardware (HW) field; 7+ years preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, tracking and driving program execution and cross-functional alignment.
- Define and execute program Plans of Record: schedules, scope, resource forecasts, communication cadence and deliverables.
- Monitor schedule, milestones and key metrics; identify deviations and propose corrective actions.
- Identify program risks, maintain risk tracker and implement mitigation plans.
- Coordinate and prioritize work across the program team; assign tasks and track progress.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders on technical and program matters to drive alignment.
- Represent the program to senior stakeholders and provide regular status and escalation when needed.
- Promote adoption of best practices and recommend process improvements for program delivery.
- Manage multiple small programs or a single medium/complex program with moderate autonomy.
- The role does not include financial accountability (no budgeting responsibility).
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience to perform this role; preferred items are listed separately.
- 4+ years of program management or related experience in the HW domain (managing HW programs/projects).
- Practical understanding of the RTL-to-GDSII flow with hands-on experience in at least one HW domain.
- Proven ability to manage program schedules, metrics and risk; escalate and drive corrective actions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; able to present complex information to varied audiences.
- Experience working independently with limited supervision and exercising judgment on program decisions.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. PMP certification is listed as a preferred credential.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional experience and credentials that strengthen candidacy.
- 7+ years of program management or related HW experience.
- 3+ years interacting with senior leadership (Director level and above).
- 2+ years operating within a large matrixed organization.
- Experience with program management tools (dashboards, Gantt charts) and maintaining program metrics.
- Hands-on experience (4+ years preferred) in HW design, verification or implementation (synthesis, physical design).
