Job Title

Senior HW IP Designer

Role Summary

Join Qualcomm Interconnect Technology Center (QITC) in Guyancourt to design and deliver hardware IP units for SoC interconnects and NoC. The role owns units from specification and micro-architecture through RTL implementation, verification coordination, and post-silicon ECO/debug.

Work with architecture, verification, exploration and support teams in a multi-site international engineering group focused on efficient SoC interconnect solutions.

Experience Level

Senior — experienced hardware/IP engineer. Preferred experience: ~8–10 years in microelectronics definition and design; Qualcomm minimum qualifications allow candidates with lower formal experience when qualifications differ.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include specification, implementation and verification collaboration for HW IP units.

  • Derive unit specification from product requirements and coordinate with architecture team.
  • Produce clear specification and micro-architecture documents and review with peers and verification.
  • Implement RTL (coding and simulation) and work closely with verification teams to ensure correctness throughout development.
  • Collaborate with exploration, support, and integration teams during development and bring-up.
  • Debug silicon issues and perform ECOs as required.
  • Contribute to design robustness and document design decisions and tradeoffs.

Requirements

Technical must-haves and relevant skills for day‑to‑day execution.

  • Significant ASIC/SoC IP design experience; demonstrable track record delivering RTL components.
  • Proficient in RTL coding and simulation (Verilog/SystemVerilog); comfortable with simulation flows and NC-Sim.
  • Practical knowledge of SoC/ASIC design flow, integration and verification practices.
  • Familiarity with AMBA protocols (AXI, CHI) and interconnect concepts.
  • Programming skills: Python and C++ for scripts, models, or tooling.
  • Version control experience: Git or SVN.
  • Experience debugging, performing ECOs, and supporting bring-up/integration.
  • Good communication skills in English; French language proficiency is listed as a plus.
  • Self-driven, analytical, methodical, and able to work in international multi-site teams.

Education Requirements

Education options listed by the employer: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field (with 2+ years ASIC experience) OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field (with 1+ year ASIC experience) OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field. Preferred fields include Electrical Engineering or digital design. Applications with equivalent practical experience will be considered.
